On the 5 May, Constable
Greer came down from Dunedin to teach us about road safety. We had to
bring along a bike with a helmet or a
scooter with a helmet. First we got told about a boy who became unable to move
his body because his head smashed against the side of the gutter when he wasn’t
wearing his helmet. We got taught what to do so that didn’t happen to us. We
tested if our brakes worked then everyone went around the playground on our
bikes. When we went around corners we had to put our arm out and point it the
way that we are going and after we did
the lap we had to look back at the sign that was being shown to us. After we
did that Constable Greer put out a ramp and that was to help us get our
confidence up. At the end we played a game when you get to the other side going
really slow and you weren’t allowed to put your feet on the ground. It was fun
to have a practical session on our bikes and we learnt some important things to
help keep us safe on the roads.
